Welcome welcome ladies or lads! Today’s review will be for the famous Minimalist facial peel which got everyone’s attention for the wrong reasons.

Minimalist is a made-in-India product that got its attention due to the striking similarity in terms of the product packaging to the worldwide famous skincare brand The Ordinary. But when you actually try it irrespective of the above drama, it works wonder.

scrubbing
Is scrubbing good enough for the skin?

What is facial peel or chemical peel?

chemical peels are the cosmetic procedures to exfoliate where various acids are applied on the face which is initially done by dermatologists. But now these peels are available in the market.

These facial peels are available on every level from light to heavy and for every skin concern. Over time, these peels don’t just work on a surface level but on a deeper level.

But why do I need to switch from my favourite scrubs to facial peels?

No wonder we are so used to our favourite scrubs like anything. it is in our genes 😉. The feeling of scrubbing gives a sense of squeaky clean finish, but actually, these scrubs are harsh for our skin.

These scrubs come under the category of physical exfoliators. Over time these scrubs strip off the essential or moisture that our skin produces which keeps our skin healthy and moisturised. Moreover, the scrubbing increases the tension on the skin and increases the chances of having skin peeling, acne, micro tears and other serious situations.

Chemical exfoliation is a revolution in skincare.

Which acids are present in the minimalist facial peel?

Wait a minute, did you guys just got shocked by the word acid? Then don’t. These acids do not that do bad for our face. The minimalist facial peel contains all the good acids for your face which works on a deeper level of your skin.

There are basically three kinds of acid that are used in facial peels. Few peels contain in smaller percentage while heavy peels contain the same acids in the higher percentages. The basic acids are-

AHA – AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid which is soluble in water. They help to peel away the surface of these skin and give instant dirt removal and smoothness. They work on the surface level removing the build-up on the skin.

The minimalist facial peel contains 25% of AHAs which are glycolic, mandelic and lactic acid. These help in exfoliating dead skin cells from the skin surface.

BHA – BHA stands for beta hydroxy acids which are oil soluble. These acids work under the skin and help in unclogging pores giving a brightening effect.

The minimalist facial peel contains 2% BHAs.

PHA – PHA stands for poly hydroxy acids. PHAs are not just exfoliator but it also nourishes the skin by providing moisture and sun protection too.

The minimalist facial peel contains 5% PHA.

Three of the acids are included in the minimalist facial peel that reveals bright, smooth and even skin tone by exfoliating and promoting better skin.

How am I supposed to use the minimalist facial peel?

WARNING: Kindly take a patch before using this product as this is a strong peel.

Basically what a patch test means is that you should apply the product on a small area of your face let’s say on the jawline. clean and dry the skin, apply the product for 8 minutes and wash off. You will feel a tingling sensation for the first few minutes, no wonder but it should fade away or nothing as major.

But if you feel so much more than that, please wash it off immediately and the product is not at all suitable for sensitive skin or those who have never applied any kind of acid in any form in any product. Many products have a slight percentage of AHAs or BHAs in them like plum green tea toner, Neutrogena face wash etc.

The website mentions applying a thick layer of the minimalist facial peel on a clean and dry face for 10 minutes. But what I did for the first was to keep it for 6 minutes only and then gradually increased the time with every session but not more than 10 minutes.

After the recommended time, you should wash it off with lukewarm water and apply a good moisturizer. please do not apply any serums with active AHAs, BHAs and PHAs.

Make sure you apply this facial peel at night time and use a good sunscreen (above 30 SPF) the next day for sure. It’s compulsory!

I know there are too many precautions to be taken while using this product but trust me the results are worth it.

How many times I should apply it?

The website mentions using the minimalist facial peel once in two weeks in the beginning and I did the same.

When I first applied the peel, I used it once in 15 days and the next time after 10 days and now I do it once a week. That is how you should use it. Build it gradually in your routine. Do not go all out with it. Follow the advice, experiment and see how it works for you.

Price and quantity: 699 rupees for 30 ml of product.

What will it do in a long run for my skin?

Over time, this product will definitely improve your skin. It works on uneven texture, dullness, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

My experience with the minimalist facial peel-

I have always been a person who has relied on monthly facials and cleanups done from the parlour and using light scrubs weekly by myself. I never got the results( targeting tan removal)as expected from any product except the clean feeling the scrubs give.

I watched Shreya Jain( amazing content creator) raving about chemical exfoliation and how it has helped her skin so much. I loved the video, and the results but the idea of applying acids to my face was scary.

Two years went by and I was confident enough to use it. I thought that if it did not work or suit my skin then I will be using it on my knees and elbows😎!

I finally ordered the product and get myself a patch test and you guys won’t believe what I saw! Bro, I could see two skin tones on my face. The patch test area was two tones lighter than the rest of my face. I was so so happy that night. I finally had the magical product for my face now.

That was it. Now the minimalist facial peel is all I rave about and I notice a slight change in pigmentation around the mouth. I am sure the product will do more good to my skin and I will update you guys about it.

I am going to try more of products from minimalist and will post about it too. Till then have a good day and a good life too! See you soon.
