Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Review: Worth the Price?

A girl has two things in abundance: hair clips, and lip balms. I can't help you pick hair accessories, but I can absolutely help you pick a lip balm.

There's a lip balm for every price point and fragrance out there — honestly, plain Vaseline has worked fine for decades. But today I'm reviewing Laneige's Lip Sleeping Mask, which has a genuinely huge following, celebrities and influencers included. I've used two variants — Berry (pink) and Apple Lime (green) — over two years now, so this isn't a first-impressions review.

All About the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Laneige is a South Korean brand, and the lip mask comes in travel and full-size, across four variants: Berry, Mint Choco, Grapefruit and Apple Lime. Across variants, the only difference is flavour and colour — the formula itself is the same.

Travel size (8g) — ₹500, comes without a spatula
Full size (20g) — ₹1,150, comes with a spatula

The brand's claim is a patented moisture technology that melts away dead lip skin overnight, revealing smooth, moisturised lips underneath.

How to Actually Use It

Laneige's instructions say apply a thick layer and leave it on overnight, removing it the next morning. My honest suggestion: save the overnight method for when your lips are actually dry and flaky. For daily use, just apply it like a normal lip balm.

Packaging

The travel size comes in a plastic tub, the full size in an acrylic one, both inside a cardboard outer box.

My Experience

I used to have a bad habit of licking my lips constantly, and nothing was fixing the flakiness that came with it — other balms stopped the licking for a few minutes but never really fixed the dryness. This one had been on my "luxury list" for a while, so I finally ordered the travel-size Berry variant.

First thing first: the fragrance is everything, and Berry smells like bubblegum. It's glossy, hydrating, and genuinely improved my lip condition — I really enjoyed using it. Later, after I got married, I went for the full-size Apple Lime variant instead, complete with the spatula this time. Same thick, buttery texture, this time in a green apple scent.

If you've got the budget to splurge on a good lip balm, this delivers on what it promises — smooth, properly treated lips. The only real downside is the lack of an SPF variant, which would've been a nice bonus.
